Readers may have noticed that the target on JustGiving has recently been raised to £4000. This is due to the simply overwhelming support that Alex, myself and family have received ever since we have began planning for this bike ride. There are those of you who have thought that we needed to aim higher still, and I agree, so lets keep that momentum going and smash this new target of £4000. Back at Christmas when Alex and I were planning on riding for Parkinson's we never managed to have raised such a massive amount of money. We still have a month and a half to go, so allow me to say a big big thank you on behalf of the Parsons family to all those who have offered support and that have donated.
Also I would like to personally thank those who have donated offline... as your names are not shown on JustGiving and you deserve to be able to say your words of encouragement too. So thanks go to:
Lindsey Cordwell (Pam's friend) - £50
Laura (Alison's hairdresser) - £5
Dennis (at the Thames Club) - £10
Dave & Mary Green - £100 "Good luck Alex & Stuart"
Ed & Pat Thuysbaert - £20 "Hope to see you at Cheddar!"
Lorraine (c/o grandparents) - £5
John & Jean (c/o grandparents) - £10
Meril (c/o grandparents) - £10 "Good luck with your marathon ride"
Cheers!
I am Stuart Parsons, and together with my brother Alex, we will ride from John O'Groats, the most northerly point of mainland Scotland, to Lands End in south west England. Riding from Sunday the 29th of April to Sunday the 13th of May we will cover more than 1000 miles under our own steam; all in aid of Parkinson's!

Update from the organising committee (mum)
I know the boys are planning on posting updates to keep all informed as to their training prior to the ride but I thought I would add my pennyworth as one of the support team. After three weeks of arranging campsites and more importantly planning the route and printing up route sheets for the boys we can now turn our minds to sponsorship. I know the boys have been circulating details of the ride to their friends but I wanted to say a big thank you to my sister for being so proactive - I only hope she still has friends left at the end of the day! Also thanks go to Lynzi at Johnson Matthey for getting so involved and to Emma for the posters.
So to those of you who have already sponsored the ride a massive thank you as well as to those who have also promised to donate. It has only been two months since the idea originated and the response has been overwhelming
So Alex and Stuart keep up the good work and please Alex no more visits to the local hospital – a patch of diesel and suspected broken wrist (fortunately badly sprained) does not help the blood pressure!
Alison
(Thanks Mum... yes I have a few articles in the works and I know I need to put something else up here... soon!)
